“No se espanten” [Marcos 16:6]. En otras palabras, “No tengan miedo.”
La primera reacción de los discípulos frente a la resurrección de Jesús no fue alegría, sino miedo, y en cada evangelio Jesús se dirige a los discípulos para decirles, “No tengan miedo.”
Pero ¿por qué miedo? ¿Miedo a qué?
Pues, para entender el miedo de los discípulos sólo tenemos que pensar en nuestro propio miedo cuando confrontamos a Cristo.
Tenemos miedo de lo que Jesús nos exigirá. La vida cristiana no es fácil, Jesús siempre va delante de nosotros llamándonos más allá.
Tenemos miedo de nunca alcanzar a Jesús; siempre lo estaremos buscando.
Tenemos miedo por eso que quizás todo esto es una fantasma; que estamos equivocados. Los primeros discípulos vieron a Jesús en persona, y nosotros no vemos nada.
Tenemos miedo de nuestra propia cruz, miedo de vivir la fe abiertamente. Tenemos miedo de la burla, la crítica, y que otros nos entenderán mal.
Tenemos miedo de soltar una vida que conocemos para abrazar una vida que todavía no conocemos.
Tenemos miedo de que no somos dignos de los regalos de Dios.
Tenemos miedo de que no seremos fieles a nuestros compromisos: renunciamos el pecado y seguimos pecando, profesamos la fe y seguimos dudando.
Últimamente, tenemos miedo frente a la muerte y miedo de que la muerte es el fin.
El mensaje del ángel a los primeros discípulos es mensaje de la resurrección, y es el mensaje para nosotros: No tengan miedo.
La resurrección de Jesús quiere decir que los regalos de Dios son gratis y no importa si somos dignos o no.
La resurrección de Jesús quiere decir que a pesar de que fracasar de vez en cuando, Jesús ha vencido el pecado y el pecado no vencerá a nosotros.
La resurrección de Jesús quiere decir que la nueva vida que abrazamos nos trae la verdadera felicidad, la verdadera paz, y la verdadera vida.
La resurrección de Jesús quiere decir que él vive, que habita en nosotros por medio de su Espíritu para animarnos, fortalecernos, y que Señor resucitado siempre está con nosotros.
La resurrección de Jesús nos enseña que la muerte es en verdad el camino hacia la vida.
La resurrección de Jesús quiere decir que él era quien dijo que era y que nos habló la verdad.
La resurrección de Jesús nos dirige a todos nosotros el mismo mensaje sencillo: No tengan miedo.

“Don’t be afraid.”
The first reaction of the disciples to the news of Jesus’s resurrection was not joy, but fear, and each gospel repeats in its own way the same message: “Don’t be afraid.”
But why fear? Afraid of what?
All we need to do to understand the disciples’ fear is to consider our own.
We are afraid that Jesus will ask too much of us. The Christian life is not easy, and Jesus is always out in front of us calling us onward.
We are afraid of never catching up to Jesus, afraid of not finding him.
We are afraid that maybe this whole thing is a fantasy. The disciples, after all, saw Jesus in person, while we see nothing.
We are afraid of our own cross, afraid of living our faith openly. We are afraid of being ridiculed, criticized, and misunderstood.
We are afraid that we are not worthy of God’s gifts.
We are afraid that we won’t be faithful to our commitments: we renounce sin but keep sinning, we profess our faith but keep doubting.
Ultimately, we are afraid of death itself and that death is the end.
The message of the angel to the first disciples is the message of Jesus’s resurrection for all of us: Do not be afraid.
The resurrection of Jesus means that the gifts of God are free, and it doesn’t matter if we’re worthy or not.
The resurrection of Jesus means that even though we will continue to fail at times, Jesus has conquered sin and sin will not conquer us.
The resurrection of Jesus means that the new life we embrace will bring us true happiness, true peace, and true life.
The resurrection of Jesus means that he lives, that he abides with us and in us through his Spirit to inspire us and strengthen us; the risen Lord is always with us.
The resurrection of Jesus teaches us that, yes, death is in fact the path to true life.
The resurrection of Jesus means that he really was who he said he was and that he was telling us the truth.
The resurrection of Jesus addresses all of us with the same and simple message: Do not be afraid.
